News from Thailand - Brydie Meek
Mon 09 Jul 2007
Brydie Meek from Victoria, is currently in Chiang Mai on our Teach in Thailand Program. Here is her latest news and a selection of photos.
My name is Brydie Meek and I'm from Geelong, Victoria. I am currently undertaking The Teach in Thailand Program and it is proving to be an amazing experience. I am teaching in Chiang Mai, 700km north of Bangkok and began in May 2007. Chiang Mai is a vibrant and beautiful city and is surrouned by mountains and national parks.
I teach grade four, five and six at Varee Chiang Mai School. The school itself is quite new and opened in 2003.. I am therefore fortunate that the school's facilities are comfortable and modern.
The students are absolutely gorgeous and it's wonderful to get to know the students at the term progresses. It's also extremely rewarding to see their English improve.
A fellow program participant commented to me recently that it really doesn't feel like work as the work we do is so enjoyable. I must admit I completely agree and I actually look forward to work on a Monday morning!
The orientation in Bangkok was also a wonderful aspect of this program, where you are equipped with teaching ideas and briefed on cultural issues in Thailand. Making friends with fellow program participants from around the world was also a highlight and provides a fantastic support network to communicate with whilst you are carrying out the program.
Cheers,
Brydie
